Coaching Mission International was founded in 2004 to serve after a mission sending organization requested coaching for their leaders in South Asia. CMI initially trained a cohort of 6, then the sending organization requested CMI make coaching available to all 2,000 of their field staff. In response to this great need, CMI officially started fall of 2006. After completing our first major training project in the fall of 2007, leaders reported feeling more supported, clear about their callings, with significant improvement in their spiritual lives.
Seeing the need for more cross-culturally trained mission coaches, we started our first official training cohort in 2009 with 24 trainees. Since our founding, we have trained just over 500 mission leaders serving in 54 countries. Through 2020, our trained coaches have provided over 65,000 hours of coaching to more than 4,100 mission workers in 110 countries. Our continued focus is to impact nations by upholding leaders on the frontlines of mission work to help them overcome the challenges and struggles they face so they can thrive and flourish in life and ministry.
Like Aaron and Hur came alongside Moses to hold up his hands so the Israelites could be victorious (Exodus 17:11-13), CMI comes alongside missionaries with coaching and coach training to uphold them so they can make the Kingdom impact they were called to make.
